In a recent paper published in SLAS Discovery journal titled "Development of a High-Throughput Screening Platform to Identify New Therapeutic Agents for Medulloblastoma Group 3" authored by Inés Fallon, Henar Hernando, Olga Almacellas-Rabaiget, Berta Marti-Fuster, Cesare Spadoni, Darell D Bigner, and Eva Méndez, their team reveals the development of an innovative screening platform aimed at identifying potential drug candidates for medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer prevalent in children 

Croda Pharma, member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, has been awarded winner of a prestigious award for its process development for innovative ingredients, including its production of sustainably sourced Squalene to replace shark-derived squalene for the vaccine industry.

The Catalan biotechnology company GoodGut, part of the HIPRA group and a member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, has developed a solution to improve the detection of alterations in the intestinal microbiota. It has published the results of a clinical study demonstrating that the use of its test in colorectal cancer screening reduces false positives by 20%. This would contribute to a better optimization of the available resources in the healthcare system, as it would reduce the number of unnecessary colonoscopies and avoid the discomfort of undergoing this procedure if it is not strictly necessary.  

The Josep Carreras Institute (IJC), member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, has received the provisional resolution of accreditation as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. The IJC is one of the 10 institutions that have received accreditation in the 2023 call, placing it among the best research centers in the country based on excellence, scientific contributions, talent attraction capacity, and economic and social impact, among others. 

Ferrer, member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, reaches an agreement with the North American firm Verge Genomics to acquire the drug VRG50635, a potentially inhibitory molecule of the enzyme PIKfyve that could improve survival in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients. 

Croda International Plc (Croda), member of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, and The Access to Advanced Health Institute (AAHI) announce the signing of a partnership agreement around innovation and development of adjuvant formulations, under which Croda and AAHI will leverage their combined expertise to make novel vaccine adjuvant formulations globally accessible, thereby advancing next generation, robust and durable vaccines.
