GoodGut promotes digestive health in company health checks

Carla Archs,

GoodGutmember of CataloniaBio & HealthTech, together with the Spanish Association of Specialists in Occupational Medicine (AEEMT) have announced a collaboration agreement to introduce digestive health as a new paradigm in occupational health. With this agreement, the AEEMT will evaluate, through a study, the impact of incorporating parameters that allow the monitoring of digestive health and healthy lifestyle in the annual medical examinations of companies. The study will be accompanied by GoodGut, which will coordinate training with experts to introduce occupational health professionals to this new discipline and ensure its correct implementation in companies.

AEEMT and GoodGut consider prevention and digestive health care as a "key axis" for the preservation of workers' health. In this sense, according to studies, digestive problems affect people's quality of life and reduce work productivity by 21%. Moreover, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is the second cause of absenteeism from work in Spain and is one of the 10 most difficult diseases to diagnose, with a worldwide prevalence of 11% in adults.

GoodGut also aims to collaborate with organisations to build healthier companies, equipping workers with tools to improve their digestive health and offering solutions to support the diagnosis and prevention of IBS. In addition to raising awareness of the importance of digestive health in the quality of life of workers.

Both entities are committed to the analysis of the intestinal microbiota as a new clinical standard for patients. The first study results of this innovative implementation are expected by the end of 2023. Goodgut expects them to highlight the importance of prevention in digestive health to contribute to the well-being of workers.
